Forces in Fluids Extra Notes

Pressure-the force per unit area exerted on an object.

Buoyancy- the ability of a fluid to exert an upward force on an object immersed in it

Archimedes Principle- the buoyant force on an object in a fluid is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

Pascal's Principle- states that pressure applied to a fluid is transmitted unchanged throughout the fluid.
Ex. toothpaste
hydraulics

Bernoulli's Principle- as a velocity of a fluid increases, the pressure exerted by the fluid decreases.
Ex. airplane wing
